Featured Product ~ Bone Collector
Series | |
|
This
month, we’re featuring Robinson Outdoors’ "Bone Collector"
series of ScentBlocker clothing as worn by Michael Waddell of
Realtree fame. This gear was designed with the input of
Waddell and his colleagues Nick Mundt and Travis "T-Bone"
Turner. Now, while it’s nice to have clothing with
endorsements by well-known television personalities, it’s more than
that. These guys put in a grueling schedule of hunts all
across the nation and in as many different climatic and terrain
conditions as imaginable. This apparel is designed to work
under these conditions. Good for them…and good for
us!
Pictured
are the "Freak Nasty" jacket ($189.99) and pants ($179.99).
Both garments feature ScentBlocker's SPF 50 activated carbon
technology combined with their S3 antimicrobial. This
combination will not only trap scent, it will prevent scent before
it starts. While the jacket and pants alone are
ideal for hunting early and mid-season, there is a zippered fleece
vest ($69.99--also pictured), with WindBlocker, for additional
warmth when the temperature drops. Yes, these boys have all
the bases covered.
|
Here are some of the nice touches on these
garments: 1) Silent Wrist Ratchet cuffs (you know how loud
Velcro can be), 2) a slit in the jacket’s back through which
to pass a safety harness clip, 3) the jacket has six zippered
pockets in the front and two in the back and 4) an arm guard
that can be used on the right or left arm. But let’s not stop
here….there’s a whole series of Bone Collector garments,
including the Brotherhood collection of fleece apparel, the
more traditional Bone Collector Tactical gear, and the base
layers to suit your hunting needs. We’re starting to see all
these styles arrive in good supply, so, if you’re in the
market for well-made garments that will add comfort and
functionality to your outdoor experience, do check out
ScentBlocker’s Bone Collector entire lineup at http://www.joessportinggoods.com/.
As you serious hunters know, this is the time of the year for
practice and more practice, including testing out the garments
you plan to wear in the field this fall. With the quality and
design built into this line of clothing, you couldn’t be
buying at a better
time.

Owners Jim
and Joe Rauscher hosted the annual Shoot and BBQ at the Forest Lake
Sportsmans Club on June 8, where all staff members were invited to
visit, eat well, receive introductory shooting instruction or
sharpen veteran shooting skills.
This is always a much anticipated
social event and one that underscores the Joe’s philosophy of using
and understanding the products we provide our customers. A big thank
you to the Forest Lake Sportsman’s Club staff and Mike Schuett of
Browning Arms (provider of firearms, instructor and Grill Master),
and everyone who brought those delicious pot luck
offerings. |
|
And we
FISH, TOO!
Jenner Rauscher caught this nice
King Salmon this June during a two-day Lake Michigan family fishing
trip out of Port Washington, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For a great time
fishing King Salmon, Coho Salmon and Lake Trout, consider a trip
with one of the many fine charter boats servicing the Great Lakes.
If you are within a half-day’s drive, you can take an action-packed
2-day trip, fish the afternoon bite on the first day, a morning bite
the second day and drive home that same day.
ENJOY! |

Want to try Fly
Fishing? |
|
We are fortunate to have excellent fly fishing
opportunities all across the country, and for those of you who are
seasoned fly fishers, you probably already know that
has a solid selection
of equipment and the expertise of our staff to make your lake or
streamside experience thoroughly enjoyable.
For those who
have not been introduced to this fine sport, fly fishing differs
from many other styles of sport fishing in that most of the time, it
is the weight of the lure or bait that is cast, and the type of line
(monofilament, braided, fused-braided, etc.) that goes along for the
ride. On the other hand, in fly fishing, it is the weight of the
line that is cast by a long, flexible rod, and it is the fly (an
imitation of an insect, minnow, or other small creature) that is
propelled by the movement of the line.
While most people
equate fly fishing with trout, and indeed there are many trout fly
fishermen, the sport has expanded during the 20th Century to
encompass species from bass and pike to bonefish and salmon. And,
while we tend to think more of the larger species, there is nothing
better for starting out than fishing pan fish on small dry flies, on
glass-smooth water, at dusk.
So, how to get started? As
mentioned, we have a number of knowledgeable fly fishers on the
staff who can visit with you as an introduction to this sport, and a
complete inventory of equipment and accessories that can make your
introduction a positive one. Also, while we’re on the subject of
equipment, you will be pleased to know that the equipment today is
better than it has ever been, due to the sport’s popularity along
with new materials and construction techniques. There are excellent
selections to fit any budget.
