Joe's at Game Fair 2009

August 7th, 8th & 9th
August 14th, 15th & 16th
9 am to 6 pm Daily

When does the 2009 Fall field and hunting season begin? .... Is it the opening of small game season? Or maybe some of the special application deadlines for the fall season? Many people who spend their fall days in the outdoors think that it’s GAME FAIR, held over two weekends at Armstrong Kennels Ranch, six miles northwest of Anoka. Celebrating 28 years in 2009, GAME FAIR is the nation’s largest outdoors, pre-hunting, family participation event. Throughout its six days of operation, you can enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of the upcoming season in the field.

Patterned after European Medieval fall festivals, GAME FAIR is participatory. Fairgoers are encouraged to bring their dogs (leashed) and their guns or bows (cased) so they can participate in the numerous activities in this magnificent outdoor setting. Activities for children of all ages include slingshots, air rifles, archery and darts. There are also concession stands that cater to all tastes.

Remember, August 7, 8, & 9 and August 14, 15 & 16--Make plans now to visit
booth at the 28th Annual GAME FAIR! (Look for the big red flags!)

MEET WORLD CHAMPION GOOSE CALLER BIG SEAN HAMMOCK!

MEET WORLD CHAMPIONS DUCK CALLER BARNIE CALEF!

Big Sean Hammock has been guiding waterfowl hunts since he was 16 years old. He has guided from Eastern Ontario to Southern Illinois and then back to South Dakota. Sean knows what it takes to have successful hunts no matter where he is in North America. Other than being a proffessional guide, Sean has made quite a name for himself on the calling contest stage. "BIG' Sean is the #1 Ranked Goose Caller in the World and has more Championships and Top Five Finishes than any other Caller in Contest History. Sean owns and operates "Big Sean's Outfitting Across America" This is a Guiding and Booking service that hunters can choose to hunt from South Dakota, Minnesota, and Michigan. Sean is also the National Sales Manager for Dakota Decoy and has his own "Big Sean" Signature series of products out through Tanglefree.

Big Foot Pro Staffer Barnie Calef of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, captured his first World Duck Calling Championship in 1989. He added a second World Championship trophy to his collection in 1999 and in 2000 he made history.
When Calef walked off the stage in Stuttgart, Arkansas in November of 2000 he had won his third World Duck Calling Championship, and in doing so, became the first person in 26 years to win back to back championships. His third title, which forced him into automatic retirement, put him into an elite fraternity of callers. Only five others have won three world titles since the inception of the contest 70 years ago. In addition to his three world championships, he has 8 top ten finishes at the world, as well as 13 state and regional titles and the 1999 K's Traditional Championship.
When he's not talking duck and hunting waterfowl, Barnie Calef can be found passing on his knowledge of calling and hunting at various seminars and promotions, as well as judging calling contests.

Bowhunting is ALL about preparation, and as you think through your particular requirements and gaps in equipment, spend a little time on www.joessportinggoods.com. We have a complete range of equipment, clothing and accessories to make your experience a successful one….with a little planning.

First, read through our bow hunting checklist. We have asked our most experienced staff what kind of checklist they keep for a hunt that would encounter all types of weather and terrain, and they came up with the recommendations on
www.joessportinggoods.com/bowhunterchecklist.pdf

Now you may not need everything on this list, as it’s rather all-inclusive. For example, there are sections devoted to camping equipment and cooking equipment, and if you’re headquartered in a cabin or motel for the hunt, you won’t need these. On the other hand, with all these suggested products, you won’t forget anything either….just cross out the parts that don’t apply, and have a great season “Out There.”

She Safari Introduces Outdoor Clothing just for Women

We’re excited when a new outdoor product is introduced into the market, but even more so when an entire line of products comes along. With “She Safari,” comes a long-awaited line of outdoor clothing designed specifically by women, for women.

In the past, women who have participated in outdoor activities have had to settle for one of two types of clothing: 1) women’s styles that were made to look like outdoor clothing, but were casual in both fabric and construction…they just didn’t hold up, or, 2) men’s outdoor clothing, with its inherent masculine proportions and fit. Well, no more. These are the real deal when it comes to fit and function in the field.

From khaki twills to hunter camouflage, this line of garments is made for the outdoorswomen who is “Out There,” in the sporting world. See them on www.joessportinggoods.com, with descriptions and sizing charts for each style.
